Does how you place the Wii matter? I accidently had my Wii layed down horizontally but upsidedown, and whenever I tried to load a game using Wiigators GC BUL, the game'd start but it'd give me an error whenever I tried to actually get past the game menu.
This was fixed when I put the Wii upright. Was I just having problems with the loader or was it because my Wii was turned upside down.

The only problem is that the disc may not be right up against the laser some you'd usually get disc read errors or games not even showing. It's no issue, but it isn't really smart either.

On that note, I notice that some games run louder when the wii is upright compared to horizontally.
Does horizontal placement put less stress on the lazer?

I would think it puts more stress on the spinner rather than on the lazor.
but good to know, I put my Wii upright to prevent overheating, but this makes me think it would be better to look for a different shelf to lay it down in without blocking the GC ports, the lower vent or both.
