Hacking Wii softmodded remove dvd drive, still works?

Hi, I have stil having a old softmodded Wii.
I want to remove dvd drive becease I don't use it, all my games are on HDD.
My point is to build my HDD inside the Wii, I want to make space so the DVD drive must go.
But will the Wii and the games still works without the DVD drive?

An optical drive is required for operation of most official software, though you may remove the laser head and all mechanical parts

I don't have any games on disc for the wii
Yes I do read that can remove the disc drive, but you must leave the disc drive controller board connected.

This looks not so great, but I still planning to do this.
What I read you only need the optical board connected to wii main board, and then you still room for a hdd.

im looking to try this either get a printer or have someone print it for me.

yo i did it and i like it tho had problems here and there in the end not 100% how i wanted it to be but defiantly like it. i got a printer printed the bracket broke a peace and printed a fix lol.
