I think someone was looking into it a while back but something came up. Anyway, it would have required hardmodding in a SD card reader. Honestly, Wiis are insanely cheap and far more capable than the mini. Just go out and find a used one for $20 ~ $30.

With no internet access and no SD slot, the only way to get the Wii Mini to load unsigned code would be through an entirely new entrypoint (most likely USB) that would require tons of work to develop. Given the cheap price of regular Wiis and the age of the console itself it's unlikely that said entrypoint will ever be developed. That said, a hacked wii mini would be pretty fucking sweet.

I agree

I honestly got my Wii Mini for $40 thanks to some gift cards (and yes I semi-regret using gift cards on something so limited but oh well... didn't want anything else at that time for some reason)

In my area at least, you could get a Wii for that much, if not less. Though, I guess it was limited to what the store had since you were using gift cards. That's rough.

It's a shame it will probably never see some serious hacking on it. I like the design of the console far more than the gross gloss boring black boxes the industry seems to be going for today. Reminds me of PS1-era design where the boring black (gloss!) box didn't dominate.

Regular Wiis are only £25 second-hand in my area (the one I bought was actually pre-softmodded lol ), and it is tons more better than the Wii Mini because you have an SD card port, Wifi, and GameCube disc support. The Wii mini has none of that. Leave the minis for the normal people who like to buy their games. ;)

Mainly (and I know that this is far fetched) I wanted to transfer my Wii Mini data to my Wii U. I got my Wii U about 2 years after the Wii Mini so I have a lot of saves I would like to transfer. That is why I have this problem, but again I don't this this will be possible for a VERY long time.
