Hello,

I hope this is in the right thread as this involves both hacking and hw. If you need to move this I will understand.

TLDR questions about what he could be used for usb microphone rock and equipment and if I could use a usb hub. How can you update your mod?

Thanks first for taking the time to read this. I am looking at purchasing a microphone for my original Wii. It had the GC ports and all.

I wanted first off to get a complete rock band set but I only have one usb port left after my 2,TB HDD. I was wondering could I get a usb hub to make more ports if the power supply could handle this?

Next off what type of usb microphone could I use?

I installed modmii when I softmodded the system. Do I need to update the mod and how can I tell?

Last question I have both active life and DDR I think I need two separate mats for this. Would I be able to have two May's looks like they plug into the GC ports at least the DDR mat I looked at did. I didn't notice the port on the active life mat.

Thanks for reading this and helping me out as the questions asked didn't seem to have a thread already.

I don't know the answer to all your questions but yes you can use a powered hub to connect more equipment in conjuction with your hard drive, I have personally done this.

IIRC, the USB mic was the same for the Xbox 360 and the Wii, so any of those USB mics should work.

You can use a non-powered USB hub for your non-hard drive USB dongles, such as the RockBand guitar/drum/keyboard, or even the RockBand microphone. Just don't ever daisy chain a hard drive off an unpowered hub connected to your Wii (USB hard drive on port 1 and the unpowered hub on port 2 for other USB Wii devices). That's how I've done it since 2012.

Not just any USB microphone will do. But just about every thrift store has USB microphones with RockBand or Guitar Hero logos on them. They are supported and cheap.

Would anyone else be able to answer the questions I have left?

I was wondering how I could check and update any apps and the mod I used to hack my Wii?

I wanted to make sure as I'm pretty sure the active life and the dance dance revolution mats are different, however do I need to buy seperate ones?

I have alot of the singing games now so just making sure I could use cross platform usb mics as someone had mentioned using Xbox360s mic. I live off disability so buying something, and it not working would be hard for me on a limited budget.

Most apps lack update capability, but, select the app in the Homebrew Channel and look at the version number, then look online for the latest version and see if it matches. If it doesn't, you can usually just download & add the app to the apps folder as if it was your first installation.
