I'm having trouble getting my Wii to read my usb flash drive. I have been jumping around forum posts and troubleshoots aimlessly with none of them working. I have tried attempting to read from multiple devices, have tried reformatting them to FAT32 and NTFS, am using ios58, have the appropriate wad files, and have even tried re-modding the whole console. I've tried to access the USB with various apps such as USBLoader GX, Nintendon't, Geexbox, ect. All have resulted in the same errors stating that the device couldn't be read/found/mounted. I have tried using both ports 0 and 1, and have tried re-downloading the wads by various means. The usb port can read files like apps in the HBC, but doesn't always find the usb. Attempting to switch the device via the "2 menu" results in a crash. I have checked the compatibility of the usb flash drive and it is considered compatible and more than capable of being read from. If any other information is needed, please let me know. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

You can try another Flash drive, some (old) ones might work, but they are known to have a LOT of compatibility problem.
You saw by yourself that whatever your setup, your IOS, your application, they ALL refuse to work with your device. doesn't it give you enough hints that the problem is maybe your device and not the console?

Why do you force yourself from using an incompatible device, instead of just using a working one?
Flash drives are just not compatible with Wii/WiiU, stop wanting to make them work when they don't. that's like expecting the wii/wiiU to use your Xbox controller while you should use Wiimote.

Use an external Hard Disk Drive.
If you refuse to use what's working and insist to use something not compatible, then we won't be of any help to you.

If you checked the Device compatibility list (on Wikitemp), don't just base your decision on the name of the device. You need to also check the PID/VID.
Some hardware can have revisions without changing the product's name.

but still, I recommend you use something working instead of losing your time trying to make a flash drive compatible.

Alright, I figured as much. Thanks for your assistance. I'll switch to an HDD if that's what it takes. I'm just annoyed that I spent so much time trying to make this work. I checked the PID/VID and it is compatible. I also tried to have my device read other usbs aside from the one in question, and these didn't work either. According to what I've seen flash drives SHOULD be compatible, but it simply isn't working for me. :/

yeah, unfortunately, flash drives have a lot of problem. some are not working at all (but, you know, even some HDD are not working at all if you look at the compatibility list).
When a flash drive work, it's only partially : it freeze in game, and it's read mode only (you can't dump a game disc to USB for example)

USB2.0 HDD seems to have better compatibility, because they are older.
USB3.0 are working fine, but newer drives seem to use different ways to init the drive that the console (or cIOS) is not using. there is a workaround by using IOS58 in homebrew, but old homebrew don't allow that. it shouldn't be a problem, as most common homebrew have that option.

I think I may have an old HDD lying around with my old spare parts. Hopefully that'll work out. Anyways. thanks for the help.
