alright guys, here's the deal, "nester72" released his so called "bootloader" on to our ftp server last night, however I can now confirm that his video (which was uploaded by me) is 100% FAKE! I do apologize if I lead any one to believe that this video was more then a fake but like you, I was hoping that this video was the real deal but unfortunately it did not turn out that way. I'm sure that sometime in the near future homebrew and LEGAL backups will be playable on the wii.
damn...

Now, wasn't the Wii supposed to be the most homebrew-friendly console on the market? Wasn't Nintendo on and on about homebrew and ease of use and simple developing tools and so on? What happened to that?

It's homebrew friendly ! look at it someone wrote some emulators for the gamecube and they repacked it for the wii and make people pay lot of bucks each game... It's just that you misunderstood the friendly part of homebrew friendly

I find this the most useful post in this thread:

Firstly, the Wii is capable of reading dual layer discs. This was stated by nintendo themselves a while back.
Plus if you look at this image taken by yours truely you can clearly see that the disk is labled "RVT-R Single layer disk". If the Wii was unable to play dual layer disks why would they need to specify that this disk is single layer wouldn't it simply say "RVT-R Disc"?

Secondly this isn't the method of booting backups i mentioned the other day AFAIK. But if one method is being tested, who's to say another isn't also? But i'm still skeptical til i see further proof. New Years day is just around the corner...

The question I have is, how did you get that RVT-R disc?

And, will you be my friend? :-D
Thanks, I'm glad you found my comment useful.

to answer your question
-Right place/Right time, a few white lies, and some sweet talking.
I also got this picture too

I just went surfing (yes, on the Internet xD) when I found a torrent (dunno remember which site it was) containing Wiibootloaderre9.jpg... looks just like a picture, not a virus either otherwise my virusscanner would've found it. Anybody interested xD?

I can make you a jpeg that says wiiloader on it as well if you like.

I know, I can make one myself

that's why I said it just looks like a normal picture xD if anyone wants to try it with dled backups tell me, my PC hasn't enough space to download them xD
