I've been looking for Wii component cables lately. But which ones are the best to use? Dealextreme alone has about seven different ones to choose from. I'm looking for something at a rather low price.

The really cheap ones you should stay away from -- they tend to produce a very green tinted picture. If you want to go the DealExtreme route, this is the one you want: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.1360. I waited for a sale on the official Nintendo cable myself, because back when I bought it, there were no third-party cable solutions.

I was going to buy some of these too, but do they really make much of a difference? I wasn't sure since wii games arn't even in HD. does it stop wii games looking like crap on a big TV? Even RE4 looked like someone spewed up all over the TV screen

LCD is different from LED and OLED.
  • Veho @ Veho:
LCD/TFT don't emit light on their own, they just filter color they have to have a backlight. LED/OLED panels emit light.

Backlight can be one giant light panel with a diffusor, but recently there's mini/micro LED backlighting, where you can control the light level for smaller areas of the screen, to get better contrast and color range.

yeah, lots of lcd panel tech usually have the dead backlight issue making owners think it's completely dead

And those backlights can get burn-in themselves.
