    Howdy everyone!

I just got a wii pcb, bricked.
When I try the savemefrii, it shows 4.1U in the corner of the screen.

    How to recover from that?
I have a drive with a modchip (wiikey).

Do I need a special disc or something to reinstall the system menu?

    Thank you in advance.

If you have a modchip installed, or have the game disc, you should be able to boot a game such as ssbb or another exploitable game, run mmm or something off of it, and try to recover your wii. Ask someone else to confirm however, I am not an expert. But if you have any of these games (or a modchip), you may be in luck. (though some bricks you cannot recover from). Anyways, what did you do just before the brick?

Edit: Saw that you had modchip. You should be able to just get it to boot an exploitable game from modchip, and then run a dol from SD. (run game from wiikey sd) (run dol from normal sd)

"I bricked" does not tell us anywhere near enough to be able to help.

does saavemii trick work to load recovery menu?

Edit: I gotta read better... Just saw. Well you can try running a game with an exploit to install HBC and hopefully bootmii.

Hells Guardian: That's what I said [IMG], and you criticized me for it.

get a modchip. Try updating the wii from RM using a disc that has an update of 4.2 or higher on it. This may not work if there is a corrupted channel installed and can cause you to be in a little crappier situation.

First and foremost though, can you boot any games from RM?

There are other methods to unbrick a semi brick. One of those methods require you to boot a bunch of games and fill the nand with save games, and then try to install a channel from a game like Mario Kart, or Raving Rabbids, or Wii Fit.

DeadlyFoez: Wouldn't be better to first try to boot a dol off of exploitable game and try fixing, and then try to update?

you can try to update the wii with a game with a higher firmware update than the wii(I.E. SMG2) with the savemiifrii trick

I agree with Mr10 it's best not to try updating without trying less troublesome fixes first. If a game that can be exploited can be run they likely won't need a chip at all to fix it.

Probably. Only game that you can do that with is SSBB-PAL if a savegame exploit wasn't previously installed. So pretty much just got to do the method of the 003 fix with mario kart pwns then.

Funny, I didn't even think of that. Been working like crazy on my dads computer and I just completely forgot about that.

But as I did say, first the OP needs to see if he can even launch a game at all.

Can't you do that off of other exploitable games? The saves can be loaded from the game, don't have to be loaded from system menu right?

the saves need to be loaded through the SM, unless you have the keys and you inject the save game into the nand, but if you can do that then you are golden anyways.

[IMG], I'm not a big gamer, don't really use saves. Never knew you cant run them off of system menu. I always thought that you could run SSBB levels from sd. Also, how would mario pwns work then, if you can't load the saves?

You can only copy save games to the wii from inside the SM (well homebrew allows it too, but if you can run homebrew then you don't need an exploit), but SSBB is different. It directly allows you to store created level onto the SD card from within the game, and read them from the SD card from within the game. With SSBB it's not save games, but levels. SSBB's savegame is still stored on the nand, and normally you can't copy it to an SD card anyways bc N doesn't want any games that can be played online to have their savegames shared bc ppl can cheat that way.
