Hacking wii 3.3 is update really needed

i bought a wii and its firmware is on 3.3
my question is are there any benefits updating it to a higher firmware before softmodding it or can you get the same things to work on it that you would on a 4.2 wii,not really bothered updating it just curious to what the more experienced say

btw bootmi can only be installed as an ios

Why not update, you have the SD function that way.

Just update to 4.2 and be done with it. You get the SD menu and everything official will be up to date so when you load newer games you will have less issues.

Update via wifi or using this guide:

Then follow the modify steps, shouldn't take a newbie more than an hour IMO.
