Oh. Hell. Yes. Now, who wants a go at some Xmen Vs Street Fighter or some Marvel Vs Capcom 1? I'm 99% sure there's online emulator play for those.

Mmmm... this'll be magic.

Yep, Kawaks and Mame32++k both have online.

Yay! I got my WiFi router just after the last one and didn't get a chance to try it out

Yay dean!
Phantasy Star 0 again?

Hey, if you guys wouldn't mind, I would totally be down with some Phantasy Star 0 action. I have been trying to get a decent game of it going for the last couple of days but to no avail.

Woo some interest! =)

The 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. I will make a more official announcement before 4/24, but the last Sat of this month will be the first day to meet up and play. I am not going to schedule a time for anyone. If it is Saturday in your part of the world, join and play. We seem to see the most people in the room, for a scheduled game night, around 6-10pm Eastern Time/3-7pm Pacific Time.

For the first half of this year we will meet and play. Depending on how things go I hope to plan contests and have prizes. I can't promise that yet so we will see how things play out.

Some people have expressed interest in helping out. I would be glad to give any registered nick on irc, who is a normal helpful user on gbatemp, a +v or voice. I am reserving operator status for GBATemp staff and people I know I can trust. No offense to anyone, but if I don't know you I'm not giving you the power to kick/ban users, change the topic, etc.

You can idle in the chan anytime you want. You can bring in friends, talk, have fun, play games, etc. The chan is always open. The Saturday Game Nights will only be a scheduled attempt to bring a greater amount of players into the room to increase the chances of a match and some fun.

somebody needs to make an #arcade channel specifically for those

Yesssss, I loved this but I rarely participated. One thing I did participate was with bonemonkey and gamerdragon when we played dungeons and dragons beat em up, garou mark of wolves, and a couple other games. That was the shit.

I had no idea Kaillera even existed! AWESOME!! I'll have to get my rig set up again and take part... networked Super Smash Brothers sounds too darn tempting to pass up. Might have to get in on the WiFi nights too

i'm looking into those. ggpo reads like the perfect solution to mame and kaillera, which has latency and many network issues. thanks for the heads up.

i guess this is a good place to tell everyone that for open gaming night there won't be any structure. you won't be forced to use 1 specific emulator, or 1 specific nds game, etc. find someone wiling to play something with you and help them set up the emu on their end. i expect the first hour or so of any new irc friendship to be the setup and debugging, after that will come the fun of playing. the next time you meet up the setup will be out of the way.

eventually i will attempt to compile a list of emus that support IP-2-IP internet 2player games. i'll then try to set up the emus and make archives of them (.rar, .7z, etc) and host them at filetrip. that way, eventually, we can just point users to a certain file. so lets say you wanted to challenge me to a game of NHL95 on sega genesis, i would point you to the gens32 surreal download and we could take it from there.

for the fist few months of gaming nights, just show up and play. don't worry about anything and have no expectations. lets just get to gaming!
