Exactly, don't blame Rogers for your own foolishness.

I don't use Vuze for anything except for downloading some "sun documentary". I just mentioned Vuze and showed it to prove a point that Rogers "sucks" or "limits" bandwith for people they "see" using torrents. I don't see how this is foolishness. Since you obviously don't live in Canada you clearly do not know about how terrible and over-priced they are, and while you may think that I should switch. Impractical, just look at Bell!

BT Broadband do the same in the UK. Between early afternoon until past midnight my maximum torrent download speed is 30kb/s. And yes, that's with µTorrent.

Actually rodgers throttles all bit torrent traffic. Even encrypted. It sucks, don't blame yourself, you CAN blame rodgers in this case. I'm sorry you have rodgers, seems you are stuck with getting your things through rapidshare etc..

Rogers IS overpriced. But be glad you're not on Bell. I just download from megaupload and mediafire. That's about it. Rapidshare from time to time. I never touch any p2p softwares anymore. I hate my monthly bandwidth of 60gb per month.

Uh

µTorrent
What? So a BT client that alerts the user (that there is a problem with the connection) is worse than others that don't? And why would uTorrent be better for his situation if it uses the same BitTorrent protocol?

I am assuming that the OP is downloading from the Vuze Network. His Internet provider may throttle speeds from the Vuze network (since it's really popular)

Or don't be cheap and get on Usenet like a lot of people, it isn't expensive. I got 180GB of data from Astraweb for 20 dollars and have only gone through half of it yet and I have downloaded a fair bit of stuff.

One word. Teksavvy.

Visit dslreports forums (google that for the link) or use this

The only reason for being throttled is you are not aware of how to NOT be throttled.

I'm not, and I like it that way. And I also like not having an asinine cap limit on my bandwidth.
This is the most helpful information I have had in a long time. I just checked out Teksavvy's services and their amazing. I'll definetly be switching from craptastic Rogers!

I think you all need to quit complaining. I'm in Australia. My bandwidth limit is 20 gigs a month. Y'all stfu, you hear?

That's pretty harsh! I'll scream out of anger with only 20 gigs a month!

Seeing your complaints, it seems like my connection is not as bad as I thought. 2mbps/300kbps (down/up), actual speed is 240KB/s / 32KB/s, unlimited bandwidth per month and no traffic shaping, but it is about 40USD.
