Homebrew Why should I install CFW?

People use luma more than others because it's one of the best in terms of features and being user friendly. It's the happy middle ground between other CFW that offer more features but not noob-friendly, and something like Salt that is install-and-forget and very noob-friendly but may not have as many options.
But yes, rxTools needs to stop being used. Even if they continue to go the menuhax coldboot method (which is inferior to A9LH) Luma is far superior at this point compared to rxTools which has little to no development at this point.
People say "noob-friendly" - but looking at all the junk posted to Luma3DS' GitHub issues that turn out to be user error, I'd say that nothing is really noob friendly. Less advanced user friendly, yeah. But this is the sort of thing that can never truly be idiot-proofed. Stock firm is the only noob-friendly firm. :P

There's always a distinct possibility that people who stubbornly stick to old methods and old payloads will get caught out by some official Ninty patch that breaks compatibility with the old stuff. If it ain't broke, don't fix it... but obsolete means "broke" in layman's terms.

it is pretty much noob-friendly imo. You drop it there, you can't disable firm protection, you're pretty much set.

If only you knew the things actual noobs can do. :P All the cries of "Mah DS games no work no moar!"

I don't care about the other CFWs, RXTools gets the job done.
Emunands, "game backups" and firmware updates. Good enough for me. Hell, I don't even play much of the newer games anymore.
I believe that arm9loaderhax is permanent. if I have it in my 3DS, I can't sell it at this game store.
If it works, stick with it.
RX is easy, and simple. I like it.
Windows XP "gets the job done," but that still doesn't mean people should keep using it. Once something looses support, it's best to just move on.
99% of the CFW's can do that and not only better, but more secure and a lot faster. What are you going to be loosing by going to another CFW? The tools? Sorry, but RXTools isn't even good at the other features it has built into it and later builds don't even have the tools anymore. Regardless any other CFW+decrypt9 will gain the same results as RXTools, but do it better.
You don't even have to install A9LH, there are only 2 A9LH exclusive CFW's, all the others still work with previous entrypoints. Regardless, both ShadowNAND and AuroraWright's build can boot without an SD card. Not to mention it's actually super easy to remove A9LH, you can either use SafeA9LHInstaller or simply flash your NAND back that was made pre-A9LH, which you should end up with like 5 of them at the end of the A9LH instillation process.
How is RXtools easy or simple? Do you even use half the features built into it? If all you are using it for is booting into an emuNAND, then you really aren't even RXtools. You are using a few other CFW's are actually doing better at with actual support. You don't even have to start from scratch to replace your CFW, every single CFW will work just fine with your current set up.
RXtools is so dead, even the project that was intending to bring it back seems to be dead in the water. Please, use a different CFW, it won't hurt to actually change. RXtools isn't a good CFW, you are just used to it because it's what you've been using, but there are far better options that are, safer, secure, and more importantly, still up to date. Yes RXTools is working with the current OFW update, but for how long? Sooner or later, it's going to break and when it does, you are the one who let it yourself suffer.

It's the most noob-friendly CFW I've seen. No need to search for firmware.bins, or this file, or that file, Just drag and drop, profit. Just because people don't know how to follow simple institutions isn't the fault of the CFW. There are noobs who learn and make a few mistakes and then there are the special kind of noobs that even Luma3DS is too advanced for. Since we've had downgrade from 10.7 and below last longer than a month, we ended up with more of the special kind of noobs and that's pretty normal for the Temp.

To be honest. Im mostly scared I'll either brick my 3ds while getting a9lh, or I'll lose my emunand.
But I create backups of both of my nands everyday.
I once soft bricked it when trying to get a9lh, but I was able to fix with my backup and gateway launcher.
If I can uninstall it, and it boots emunand first just as fast as sysnand, then I'll change it.
So I can put cubic ninja down. Forever.

You can both uninstall it and keep your emuNAND with A9LH. Just follow the guide and the installation should take forever, but would be worth it for safety. Recent tools have become extremely stable and hard to brick with.

Just saying this thread became a cfw rant that people talk shit about rxtools. I don't hate rxtools nor like it but I think that ranting about arm9 and Lima v rxtools is a water of time since this very argument has appeared in multiple threads

The thing is, the point of this thread seems to be that the OP has a CFW and was wondering what CFW they should be using instead, which brought up RXTools.
Of course, we as a community should not encourage people to keep using RXTools because it's a dead project, meaning that any future security problems will not be fixed. Thus, it had to turned into a thread about trashing RXTools to help discourage the usage of RXTools and encourage people to look elsewhere for their CFW needs.
