Why doesn't the NDS support WPA Encrypted connections yet supports WEP?

Just wondering.

This has been asked several times,
when DS was released (uhm, it was 2004, right?) WPA wasn't as popular as it is now,
also the DS doesn't really got the CPU power to decode WPA encryptions on the go.

At the time, Nintendo WiFi Connection only supported WEP, so they made the DS only be able to accept WEP signals. Now, it has improved with the Wii, with WPA being supported.

Yes it does. It's just not updateable.

WPA wasn't popular at the time DS and PSP came out.

Sony decided to include it anyway, Nintendo held off.
