So is it a gold skulltula or just a spider??

Its a golden skulltula,you have to get the megaton hammer and destroy that boulder to get it like said above.Golden skulltula makes a scratching like sound whereas the normal skulltula makes a different sound(I can't remember what it sounds like), that should help you distinguish between them.

Funner than looking for heart pieces blindly. Not sure how they would work out. You might never finish.

Lol, not really, you can get plenty of them by just playing through the game and taking time to explore. And it's not like you need 20 hearts to easily beat the game.

How embarrassing, I found my last missing heart piece, it was the mini game with the frogs... Although I'm 100% sure I already did this (never played OOT before), maybe I once forgot to save or something -.-

Btw, yesterday after the U4 update my 3DS crashed for the first time, while playing OOT (after 60+ hours of playing in total). Anybody experienced this too?

Lol, not really, you can get plenty of them by just playing through the game and taking time to explore. And it's not like you need 20 hearts to easily beat the game.

Feel free to play the game however you want. To me it seems incredibly inefficient to get the heart pieces without a guide, especially if you intend to get them all and are playing for completion. Assuming you even miss one it'll be a headache to figure out which one you missed.

I still have a lot more to get, and may have to end up using the guide for some of them. I think I like not having them all, it gives me a reason to keep playing it
