I remember the Wii, where there were many many knock offs, but sometimes pretty solid alternatives compared to expensive original Wii Motes, e.g BigBen

My question is: Where are they now?
Its just weird given the popularity of the console.

Well, I believe HORI is the one making that blue one that’s git a d-pad and is missing almost everything else, so there IS at least one... maybe they realized the knockoff controllers aren’t selling? Other than that, there’s just shell-swaps you gotta do yourself or pay someone a rediculous amount to do for you.

Good question, I'd love some thicker ones using a proper stick module like the type ps4/xbone use.

Since we're talking cheap alternatives, I feel like support for my PS3 controllers will be most welcome (from the native Switch bluetooth).

and they all suck
You tried them all?

Well, they support from USB dongle. Second best thing.

Here's the one from hori:

it completely lacks the hidden shoulder buttons from the official Joy-Con controllers, and it doesn’t have an accelerometer, gyro sensor, or vibration feature.
Screams for a japanese only release

it also lacks bluetooth iirc so it renders it handheld mode only

you also have this:

Ipega 9083, but sadly it doesn't attach to the console, its bluetooth only :(. It has a few cons like button mapping is different on the letters, no fancy stuff, but the joystick I saw someone reporting that they are WAY better and actually good for FPS, no idea...

It supports android, IOS, Nintendo Switch and maybe windows...

I kisy purchased one of these for my Windows tablet. As soon as my shipment comes in, I'll share some words about this controller.
