Who's getting a summercart 64?

Summercart64 allows chain-loading a N64 cart and a 64DD disk together, not sure if it's supported with "cart+cart" but have you tried chain-loading the N64 Gameshark ROM and the game you want to play?
I never knew you could load a cheat rom to use cheats then load a game rom, would this work better than using SC63s cheat system.

I've tried this way but with it been beta it has issues, I've tried using rom injector but I can't seem to get irs GUI to open, maybe because I'm using W11.

I don't know that you can actually do that.
I suggested someone who wanted actual gameshark functionality to try loading gameshark cart + game cart, but that functionality to do that was designed for game cart + 64DD Disk - so it may not even let you pick two carts together, or if it does, it may not work at all. It was just an idea to try since the concept of picking to items to load together is supported by summercart64.

I bought the Analogue 3D today, so this Summercart64 is on my radar. I have an old ED64 2.5 which was great back when I bought it, but it's also a pita because of needing to reset the console before shutoff to secure a save file. Plus I don't expect that old ED64 will ever work in the A3D. But it is Analogue, so I fully expect a jailbreak will come along shortly. Why else put a full game catalog complete with label art on the cartridge icons, if not to make it possible for customers to USE that whole catalog? So, while I'm glad Krikzz resolved the ED64 x7 issue, and I'm glad the Summercart64 works too .... maybe a flashcart wont even be necessary with the A3D. So .... I'm in a holding pattern.

Just FYI - According to Krikzz the v2/v3 ED64 carts will work in the 3D if you're using the latest menu software (v2.13) and your 3D is up to date.

Even the older Everdrive64 cards will work, with a simple fix, 1K resistor added/ soldered inside cart, to a certain point.

The resistor fix is for the latest x7 flashcarts that are already out in the wild and don't yet have the newest bootloader/firmware for the Analogue 3D. It's only meant for the x7 and only meant for those who don't have a real N64 to use for applying the update.

We were discussing the many years old Everdrive64 carts from long before the "x Series" EverDrives existed. There is no "resistor fix" for them as they don't even have an updatable bootloader.

You right, I was mixed up in my understanding from his site.

I've just ordered one. Heard it works perfectly with the Analogue 3D. Phenom Mod is backordered so EPICJOY seemed like the best option. The price is good too.

Works perfectly with one caveat - the A3D sees the Summercart64, or any flash cart, as a single unknown cartridge. So whatever video, audio, overclocking, etc settings you select will apply to all the roms on the cart. You can change the settings when you switch games, but the console won't save those settings on a per game basis. Only for the cart as a whole.

How much do you need to mess around with settings? I'd probably just find a good middle ground and leave it, but some romhacks probably need specific settings.

Romhacks, and apparently the "unleashed" overclock setting makes a major beneficial difference for some games, but more or less breaks some other games.

For now. All of that might get sorted over the next few months.

I have heard reports of the EDX7 causing random save corruption and random resets with the A3D, so ideally a SC64 should be used instead for now until it's confirmed and a fix is done.

they say it works great with A3D, but after Analogue fixed their firmware - now most of the carts should work...also, I'd suggest to save some more and get Krikzz cart - top quality product!

I have both and tbh, the SC64 is better and cheaper for one. It supports bigger rom types (hacked ones), doesn't need any database file for cart type saves, etc., and no need for AP patched roms (Donkey Kong 64, Banjo Tooie, Jet Force Gemini) unlike the EDX7 were it still needs these patched for EDX7.

Paired with a A3D it's the best combo to have right now, as I have been testing it for a week with flawless results.

In addition to the post from @retrofan_k above, are there any features the everdrove has that the summercart doesn't?

FYI this was fixed in the latest A3D firmware. It now adds each new rom you play off the summercart to the A3D game library, and then you can do per game settings.
