Yeah, yeah, I know the R4 is a crap card. We all get it. But people keep saying that every single R4i card is a clone card. So, I'm wondering... is this true? Is there no "real" R4i card? And is there actually any problem with it being a clone card?

As far as I know, every R4i card is a clone of the original R4, only with DSi support and more stuff like that. The creators of the original R4 were sick and tired of others using THEIR name on the clones so they discontinued their own R4. So that's why no DSi flash card with the name R4 on it can be the real thing.

Correction the original r4team got sued by nintendo.
And after that all the fakes came out.

yes, no r4 card compatible with the dsi is original, in fact i highly doubt you can get your hands on an original these days.

but that said, my card is an r4 clone and it works perfectly, and plays every game i throw at it. So, no, there is no real problem with it being a clone card, I asked a similar question aday or two ago, and i got no real reasons why my clone was bad, other than hearsay, and official cart fanboyism. (you can search for the thread, it's probably still on the first page.

Why would you want to get a R4 anyways?

If its because of the low price, just go for Acekard 2i.

I mean.. there shoudnt be any discussion about the R4. Its long dead. If you dont consider it, dont talk about it. Let it die..
