Sorry about double posting, I know its annoying. I just wanted an answer really fast.
Try to look for an AMD laptop that has another Radeon GPU (aka in hybrid crossfire). That should be a better gaming laptop.

If you want to stay with Intel then I recommend GTX670M.

Gaming depends much more heavily on the GPU than the CPU. The extra CPU power sill do jack shit, the games will still run lesser due to the slower GPU.
Ok thank you, good to know. Plus the turbo boost feature makes the CPU concern irrelevant I guess lol

Hmm, I remember seeing benchmarks on notebookcheck.net which indicated that the amd cpu's hold back some gpu's quite a lot... (it was in some MSI gaming laptop review)

But that aside.
I would prefer the asus one above the acer one, because of the cooling.
I have had a low-end acer, which tends to overheat quite fast and I don't think they have upped the cooling on this one, so my guess would be that there will be trotteling if you're going to play a game with that one.
The Asus one has propper cooling (imo) but the gpu is a joke :/
I would say: spend some more money on it to get something propper. (you might be able to get a alienware if you use the epp, cashback and some coupons, they can mow down the price quite fast and if you haven't upgraded the order too much you might also be able to get it for less than 1100)

Well I'm kinda set on picking up a laptop tomorrow. The Acer one apparently isn't available at Frys, and the next best one that I would get that is worth it is an extra $300 -.- which is a bit above my price range, $1000. This is so difficult!

My friend has a Samsung with core i7 and GTX 675M. Handles Battlefield 3 without any slowdowns, although I haven't run any benchmarks on it to compare.
Edit: didn't see the budget of $1000, so this particular Samsung won't help.
Can you recommend anything in my price range? Or point me to good stores to check out? Im driving around today to look for a laptop.

Can't really say for American stores, being British. A quick look on newegg turned up this one:

Don't think you'll find better for under $1000 than this Lenovo.
Edit: specs for the lazy:
Lenovo idea pad y500
Core i5 3230M 2.6Ghz
6GB RAM (up to 16)
Dual GT550M in SLI (one is removable for an extra drive/optical/fan)
1TB HDD
windows 8
No mention for screen specs

Oh??
The Y500's GPU bay has been released?
In that case, my advise as well would be for the Y500 :) (the one in Originality's link)

I'd probably pick the Lenovo one, that particular laptop is one of their gaming line laptops which are quite well known. Otherwise if you want one of the first two that you mentioned i'd definitely pick the acer one.
