Also, I voted for the two non meat as well. I don't like the meat mention in the poll. I do like mac and cheese and yogurt though.

I love vegetarians. They leave more meat for me.

Honestly, I do have a lot of respect for vegetarians, but I don't think our bodies were intended to function without a balanced diet of meats, fruits, and vegetables.

So for my part: the more things that die to slake my hunger, the happier I am.

I never make that argument.

Eating an animal is fine - it's how the world works. Things die so others may live.

But - it's wrong to see living animals as raw materials and just harvest the hell out of them. There's also nothing honorable about hunting with a gun. It's like cheating at a video game --- but with real consequences.

monkat: So in a utopian situation, how would meat best be gathered, in your opinion?

I guess hunting with bare hands instead of with guns.

Hum. I can't quote your post. That's weird.

Anyway, sparingly. It's unreasonable to expect people to have time to go hunting, even in a family environment with multiple people, but it is not unreasonable to buy your own and kill it on your own, and butcher it on your own.

If it even took a little bit of effort, and a little bit of value to get your fix on umami flavourings, maybe there would be a little more respect going on.

I have some vegetarian friends who keep nagging me about it and use those examples

And I can see a point in what you say about raw materials
The world would be better of if everyone would eat a lot less meat

And very true about the hunting, I do want to go hunting one day to experience it but it will be included in a much larger trip that involves me going to the woods/mountains for 2 months and the hunting Ill do is more trapping and bow
