Hi everyone,
I'm getting back into wii after some years.
Curently my softmoded wii is running on 4.2E with pimpmywii 3.03 and primod 0.90 if I remind correctly..
I have a 160mo SD card and i use a 500 Go NTFS HDD to play my dump games with USBLOAD_GX
It seems like modMII is the best way to use your wii now.
Would someone please help me to switch from PMW to ModMII?
Also if this is not too much to ask can you explain to me how to play custom wbfs?
I heard you can now use nintendont (GC emulator if I'm correct) on you HDD. How do i manage to realize that?

Thank you in advance!

Cheers

Use modmii, it will overwrite any old mods. Nintendont will be added as part of the USB loader gx set up process.

Not sure what u mean by custom wbfs, but you want to make sure your hard drive as formatted as fat32, which supports wii games in a wbfs file format (even larger games greater than 4gb)

Thanks you very much for the answer!
I heard there is game like GH3 wich can be modder to add new song.
For the hard drive (NTFS) i do use Wii Backup manager to transfer the wbfs to it

When You say, "I haven't done this in some years", You aren't kidding, 4.2E, wow.
The latest version of the Wii software is 4.3. You need to see about updating to the latest firmware.
Then I would install bootmii, if you haven't yet, and make a nand backup of Your Wii, use d2x cios to install the latest cios:

what : d2x v8 final (or v10beta52)
slot : 249
base : 57
version : 21008
that's all you need for cios

Update USB Loader GX to the latest version (r1272 https://sourceforge.net/projects/usbloadergx/files/latest/download)
If You want to use Nintendon't to play GC games, I recommand using this version: https://send0r.de/Nintendont/MasterMod/
it has a bunch of extra stuff, including themes. To play nintendont on the same HDD as Your wii backups create a partition on your drive in using the Fat32 file system. Put it in a folder stucture like this:

"HDD:/games/[GameID]/game.iso"

It is required for you to rename you games ISO to "game.iso"!

If you want to you can also backup all of you wii game WBFS files and format the whole HDD to Fat32. Fat32 offers better performance.

For modding games use "Wii Backup Fusion" and extract the wbfs file. Then you game dig through each file of the game.

I'm not entirely sure how to mod that specific game but you can practice modding wii games with Project M.

Thank you for all you quick answers! I do a quick summary of them it would be:
-Update Wii Firmware to 4.3 --> Will this remove all my current soft mod?
- Do a nand back up --> What software shall i use?
-Use ModMii wizzard
-Turn my HDD to Fat32 --> Is it ok if I partition it? I actually also use it to store the iso game

I am very glad to see such a cherfull community thank you!

Modmii addresses all those steps. It will have u update to 4.3 and overwrite old mods (an official update may or may not overwrite your current mods, but modmii will clean it up for u)

ISO's aren't necessary, no need for ntfs. If u choose to partition modmii has an option for that as well

Ok well! i followed the ModMII procedure and everthing seem fine! I just don't have yet partionned my HDD and i'm not sure if my wii is now 4.3 i will check later.
IF i'm right i need to create 2 Fat 32 partition One for Wii game the other one for GC game ?
Where do i need to put the nintendont boot.dol from the link you provided me? Is there any tutorial to know what setting i should change for USb loader GX?

Thank you very much again for your kidness!

I truly am sorry for my long response! :)

I accedentally gave you the wrong link this is the newest one: https://send0r.de/Nintendont/Mr. Mysterio's Mod/

You don't have to have two separate partitions for each, they will work on the one. If you do format it you will have to reinstall all of the games, so keep that in mind.
The boot.dol from the download just goes into a path on Your sd card like this: "sd:/apps/nintendont/boot.dol"

You also need to have the meta.xml and, icon.png files. (in the same location)

Step 1) Create a meta.xml file and paste the following into it with your preferred text editor:

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" standalone="yes"?>
<app version="1">
<name>MMMod (Nintendont)</name>
<coder>FIX94, crediar, send0r.de</coder>
<version>v5.486</version>
<release_date>20180000000000</release_date>
<short_description>Gamecube Loader</short_description>
<long_description>Original Nintendont Commiters: GerbilSoft, JoostinOnline, GreyRogue, Howard, Cyan, nastys
MMMod was created by, send0r.de

 Project website: https://send0r.de/Nintendont/Mr. Mysterio's Mod/

Nintendont allows you to run GameCube games on a Wii or Wii U from an SD or HDD device.
MMMod allows you to have custom loader themes, backgrounds and a, GameCube BIOS Animation!</long_description>
<no_ios_reload/>
<ahb_access/>
</app>

Steo 2) Download this image:
icon.png
place it in the same location as Your "boot.dol" file.

Step 3) Boot up the homebrew channel and launch the app.

If u used ModMii and grabbed usb loader gx it will have put nintendont in your sd card in the right place with a meta.xml already
Yes you can do that but I don't typically recommend it because if you use a USB stick (I know they are not supported) the Wii just crashes.

We are both suggesting having nintendont saved to the SD card, so I'm not sure what you're disagreeing with

You can also have it saved to a fat32 hdd, I'm not aware of any difference in performance based on what device it's saved to

I meant launching it through USB Loader GX. If you use a USB Stick it usually just crashes.
