Where to Purchase a Real Switch Battery

My 18.0.0 cfw atmosphere 1.7.0 autoRCM sysNAND launch switch battery has had it. It was down to about 40 minutes of TotK battery a few weeks ago, so I purchased a "new" battery for it on Amazon. I believe I got scammed, so I'm returning it. I'd like to know where a reputable place to purchase a real replacement 4300 mAh battery is that won't randomly lose more charge in sleep mode than in active use. The hard part (removal) is done and It's ready for a new battery. I just need to know where to purchase one that's legit. Can anyone who's replaced theirs point me to an online or offline store in the US that sells them?

Bonus question: Just out of curiosity, why would the battery I bought take more juice in sleep mode than it would being actively used? Just from a technical perspective it's confusing to me. (For the record, hekate reported a design capacity of 4667, and a max of 2300, then later 1900, then eventually 1800. How does one even make a battery like this?)

So that's definitely legit? Ooh, for 5 more dollars they have the adhesive I probably need and the kit I could have used too. Too bad I didn't know to just buy from them ahead of time.

Also, seriously. Any clue as to why that battery would discharge so quickly in sleep mode? It's the jank battery's fault right? I (probably) didn't break part of my switch somehow removing the old battery?

Be careful, if you check the reviews on iFixit's listing you'll see people saying that they didn't receive OEM batteries.

I haven't ordered Switch batteries from them, but I did try to get a replacement New 3DS battery and the one that arrived definitely wasn't OEM. I was really annoyed because that was the entire reason I went to them, instead of just looking up Aliexpress or something. So be advised that you might not actually get an OEM battery from iFixit, and I wouldn't know where to find one at all besides eBay listings for parts scavenged from other consoles.

As for the battery discharging quickly, are you on firmware 19.0.0 or higher? There's a known, ongoing bug involving battery drain in sleep mode. It can be partially mitigated by turning on airplane mode before putting it in sleep mode, but not entirely fixed. It could also be some sort of battery calibration issue, especially since you just replaced it. I know there are some simple steps to correct that if it's the case.

Did you mean to post this as a joke, or are Nintendo actually selling spare parts? I know they used to. Back in the GameCube era, I got the GameCube component cable from them. Anyway, I doubt they would sell OEM batteries, since that would mean they approve customers opening the console to replace it.

Component cable is not a spare part, but just accessory, like a dock or charger. They don't sell replacement parts etc. to the plebs, only service centers and so on.

I'm going to say go to ebay and buy several of the least expensive used OEM batteries then test them. The Switch will actually discharge them further to 3.2v and I'm guessing that they will all be > 4000 mAh according to the Switch.

Anyway, I fixed it a few weeks ago and was just making sure by using it a bunch. Seems to be legit. Oddly enough, the 18$ one from Amazon worked after I let it die then charged it back up. I figured I'd try that before I returned it since some reddit thread mentioned it, even though it wasn't in the battery's instructions. (The instructions and tools that came with it were awful, by the way.) I was just freaked out cause it discharged incredibly quickly in sleep mode at first (as fast as actively in use), but it doesn't do that anymore. It's back to its energetic 5+ hours of Rune Factory 4 so I guess that battery was the real McCoy.

In addition, I did purchase that 40$ kit from IFixit back when I thought I got scammed, so I guess I just have an extra battery now when I need one.

There are likely two things at play here. First the Switch needed to calibrate to the new battery. I think Nintendo even has instructions on this noting that you'll want to let the battery drain completely until the Switch refuses to power on at all and then fully recharge. Second new lithium batteries sometimes benefit from a couple full discharge/charge cycles.

Since yesterday? Yeah, played some more Rune Factory 4. Seems to be lasting as long as it should. Longer, honestly, but I bet that's due to the fact I just found out Airplane Mode uses a somewhat significant amount less than usual. Can't believe that took me 8 years to figure out. >.<
