Where should I buy a 2DS?

I'm debating on where I should buy a 2DS. here are my main contenders:

• Amazon Renewed
• eBay Used or New
• The Exchange
• GameStop Refurbished/Pre-Owned

My budget is anywhere to $150, so where should I get one? I'm planning to homebrew it.

Get N3dsXL instead, better specs (more games to play) and bigger better screen (Better if you get ips screens).

Problem is i’m in North America and i cannot read Japanese.

Edit: just remembered you can select the language of the system then region unlock it.

Also how do i tell if ebay isnt a scam

Good thing about eBay is that they have great buyer protection. Take pictures/video of you opening it and if it's not as described, you can file a claim. Also, just check the seller rating. Here's a listing about $15 over budget from a seller that has good reviews and it seems like a lot of stock. This was only the second listing. I'm sure if you found a non XL version or just kept looking, you could get under budget. Just install CFW to make it a NA region

Don't believe you can with the Japanese firmware, not unless you do a region change to a USA firmware, but it comes with many risks if you're not careful.

How comfortable are you with Facebook Marketplace? I bought my N2DSXL off of their a few years ago for around $100. Mind you, this is circa 2021, in-person, and in a fairly low cost of living area, but good stuff like that can be found with sufficient patience. Lots of kids that grew up with these systems are offloading them as they approach/enter adulthood and will likely continue to do so over the coming years. On top of that, being able to inspect your product before actually paying for it is huge.

On the other hand, if you need shipping, maybe stay away from FBM unless you can find either a) an extremely reputable seller or b) a listing with the "Checkout on Facebook" option. The latter offers low-hassle purchase protection comparable to eBay's, whereas paying off-platform gives you very little in the way of assurances.
