Homebrew Where do I start?

I have a NN3DS XL in firmware 9.9E.
Its new and i havent connected it to wifi yet.
How can i access homebrew without updating?

Use Browserhax then install HomemenuHax

Yes,
1. go to the http://smealum.github.io/3ds/ and download the starter Kit
2. Extract the contents of the zip to the MicroSD card in your 3ds
3. go to your wifi settings and change the DNS to 107.211.140.065
4. load up the browser and go to this link.
http://yls8.mtheall.com/browserhax_fright.php
5. that should load the homebrew menu
6. open up the HomemenuHax Manager and install
7. Now ever time you turn on your 3ds and are holding the L button you will load up the homebrew

This isn't something you should do if you are confused and don't understand what is happening. It's pretty technical stuff. The whole point of this is to learn and become more technical. the outcome of actually HAVING homebrew is pretty minor. The journey is the value.

As a reference point I spent about 10 hours reading before trying ANYTHING and it was still frustrating and didn't quite work right the first time. and I am a VERY technical person.

thats a waste. my friend told me the steps and i got everything in only 5 minutes. this isnt like getting CFW/Emunand/Downgrade so thats 10 hours wasted lmao

If you think learning something is a waste and if you are just in it for the outcome and are just a leech off other people's work then you shouldn't be here. Of course it only takes 5 minutes if you do everything right.
