Hi guys!

I just bought my first DS Lite and do not know where to start learning about the R4 card, menus and etc

Could anyone please nudge me in the right direction or tell me where do i learn more about that?

I have a Switch v1 and did the homebrew myself so i just need to know where to start and what to look for

Thank you!

Hi. As far as I'm concerned, it seems obvious to recommend DS games first, especially those that take full advantage of the stylus and touchscreen (rhythm games), followed by the numerous JRPG games available. As for homebrew games, ports of the famous MS-DOS FPS games: DScent, cquake, cheretic, Dual Hexen, Jfduke3D, or LemmingsDS. As for emulators, JEnesisDS and NeoDS are still excellent.

I emphasize that the DS Lite doesn't require any software modifications to work with roms: you just need to buy one of the many R4 cards available online (I recommend an R4 Gold Pro or an Ace3DS+ clone).

The DS scene is pretty straightforward, you just need a Flashcard, a decent SD and you're good to go.

Nowadays, there's an option to "install Custom Firmware" named TwilightMenu or something along those lines, and it's important to know this because Emulators for DS are being "updated" to comply with the "Custom Firmware" and most updates won't work in plain stock Flashcard's firmwares.

If you want simple/traditional, go with Flashcard Firmware by all means.
If you can't find the appropriate Firmware for your particular Flashcard, opt for TwilightMenu by all means.

That's pretty much it 🤔
