All devices try to prevent flashcards. The way a flash cart works is it passes all the systems checks to determine if the card is legit or not. (It may do so by leveraging a kernel exploit as gateways card does or simply by appearing to the system as a genuine game.) They've been fighting clones/knockoffs since the beginning of the home video game industry.
