Anyone know how long this will take?
Check this out:
It is being updated a lot, people compile it and release it. If you google the rev### it will prolly show up for dl. So like the newest update is:r474 Just google:
wii64r474 or wii64 r474 or wii 64 r474 - Something similar should work.
is the new unofficial version run at a decent enough speed to even download? I saw a youtube video of super mario 64 and although a lot better than earlier builds, it certainly still doesnt look fun to play
Your topic title was a bit misleading so I slightly modified it.
Wii64 has been out for a long time, however not in a greatly usable form.
The people working on Wii64 are the only ones who could give a "release date" for a version that runs well with dynarec, but I doubt they will, I figure they probably don't know themselves when it will be done.
Also, here is some advice, It's generally pretty useless to ask this kind of question, as most authors prefer not to be pressured on releases.
This is free software after all.
How do you compile their builds?
It will be done when its done. Someone could make a great breakthrough and it could be done in 2 weeks. Or everyone working on it could get stuck and it will never be playable.
I was also wondering how to compile builds as well, since I'm really not familiar with source codes and stuff. I was hoping to at least be able to play HM64, since it doesn't work for an injected wad.
it will take a long while for them to finish.
want to play n64 games on the wii? get the virtual console ones
if the game you want isn't released on the virtual console, look up ROM INJECTING on these forums/google. it lets you replace the rom file in a virtual console game with a different ROM file.
it takes some tweaking but you can get alot if n64 games to run at a playable level with injections.
