On micro SD's I understand that there are a few formats and i was wondering whats are the differences of FAT , FAT 32 and FAT 16

Well clearly, FAT32 is fatter than FAT16.

To put it simply if the card is 2gb or less use FAT16, if it's larger then that use FAT32.

Thanks guys now i kinda understand but if FAT32 is better than FAT16 then why do I have to use FAT 16 on a MicroSD thats 2GB or less ?

FAT32 is more complex, hey just do it, that's what I do. Probably has something with SDHC only being compatible with more complex formatting.

Under 2 gigs then use fat 16 as it putes the data into smaller chunkes and is more suited for the small memory , where as fat32 places the data in larger chunkes to be read and is quicker than using fat16's smaller cluster.

I have never formatted any of my microSD and they have all worked fine.
