Im really new to 3ds hacking and was wondering what the difference between these is. Im using Checkpoint and it was weird seing Smash listened in the normal saves section and the exdata section when pressing x.

from what i know, exdata means extra data. depending on your game, this could be a save file for a few different things.

usually, i'm pretty certain exdata save data is extra content. for example, it could be for activity logs... updates...

things that aren't dependent on when playing the game

this is only a very basic explanation though.

Thanks! :D
So when I want to make backups for games exdata would be unimportant right?

Also, I have this game Fantasy Life and it isn't in the normal saves list but in exdata list.
Does this mean I can't save my game progress since it isn't in the saves section?
