I found a "broken" 360 on craigslist for cheap and it came with this hardware mod attached to it. I'm assuming it is soldered on and it looks like it replaced the entire top vent cover of the 360. Can anybody identify it? Also, would it be safe to take off and use like a regular console? If so, how do I take this off? It doesn't have the same kind of tabs the stock vent covers have.

It looks a bit like a Wasabi360 or some kind of an HDD replacement/add-on.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's an Xecuter Blaster CK3

It's an Blaster CK3 by Team Excuter. It makes it so you don't have to open up your 360 in order to flash your Xbox 360.

Excellent. Ehh, I wanted this as a pet project but I wasn't prepared for this. I think I'm just going to resell it as is and buy another. Thanks.

Should be easy to remove and have some value on its own.
