Hey guys. New to the scene here and I can't say I enjoy the mp3 player too much that is included with Moonshell. When I play the music, the volume is so low that when I pump it up enough to here the music just right, pressing X, it starts sort of "skipping" the music.

Is there a better mp3 player out there that has better sound and might not 'skip' as much? Maybe I'm just being too picky with the DS, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Nah. They're not bad headphones. I mean, yes, it gets loud enough when I up the sound to 400, but then it starts skipping.

Are mp3s supposed to have a low bitrate to play on moonshell well?

thats strange. it works ok for me when i play songs in moonshell.
Give Licks media player a try, and DSorganise also has mp3 playback as well

Eh, Moonshell works flawlessly for me. I don't know what might be wrong with your sound...I even dumped my new Phillips MP3 player that I got just a little bit before because it was easier to just carry my DS around.

The maximum output volume is probably highest with moonshell

100% is perfectly loud for me. 400% = bad for hearing (with my headphones. I had some crappy $10 ones, and I could barely hear anything at 100%. Upgraded to a good $30 pair, everything was loud and clear)

If you haven't already, I would recommend that you try Lick's Media Player before deciding to stick with DSO.

Yeah, I used to have one of those that you get with them free radios that come with yogurt special packs and so on, they sucked.

Then I used my big headphones (yeah, they totally cover your ears), amazing sound at 400%. You can really feel the beat and the basses work really well. Surprising for a DS, but great. xD

Moonshell @ 100 definitely should be loud enough, most likely something is wrong with your setup. BTW, you people know that the DSs can only handle samplerate of max 32 kHz? That's what's making this ugly white noise when there is silence in a mp3. It's a gaming machine, not an mp3 player, afterall.

Color. Makes. Eyes. Bleed.

I have $15 Phillip's in-ear earbuds and it's very loud (bad-for-your-ears loud) at 100% with the DS's volume slider all the way up.
They are teh awesome lolz.
