BID is a hash of the game code. When the hash match it means you can have high confident that the game code is the same.
Imagine an instruction like this:
Goto page 23, paragraph 3, line four, word three of this book and you get the secret code to unlock the door.
You need to have the exact print of the book. For book you have ISBN number. If the ISBN number match you know you have the right one. If it is a different edition the chances drops dramatically. Occasionally they just change the cover for book sold in different region and it may work even when the book has a different ISBN number.
Game cheat code works similar to changing the text of a book such as go to page 123, change paragraph 3 word four to "give".
What happens when BID don't match:
Cheat engine may not be able to complete the hack. (There is only two paragraph on page 123)
Cheat engine hack a memory of no consequence. ( the word "give" is just ignored by the reader as a typo or maybe the reader don't even notice the error)
Cheat engine hack a memory of critical importance wrongly, the game may crash, the game may freeze, in the worst case your game save gets corrupted.
