saw a locked thread about it, anyone care to vastly explain this ?
It allows people to dump a game from a retail cartridge with a 9.3 or above firmware. (Only userland access is needed)
and when you say dump you mean what?
sky3ds? gateway? cia?
You copy the game from the cartridge and you probably get a .3ds file.
isn't that called a backup?
Yea, you get a backup when you dump a game. That's it.
You're getting too excited.
You can use decrypted backed-up games for Citra. Maybe romhacks. (which might run, without sound and stability, on Citra, not your 3ds)
It's not in any way a legit piracy opportunity.
A backup is the actual file the dump is the process of making the backup from a cartridge.
A dump is a backup, yes.
