Hacking What does the new Wii update do?!?!?!

OK, this thread was not made for flaming I just want a simple answer to my question. What does the new Wii update do for the system? Is it a patch to stop backup loading or is it some other under the hood stuff to get our systems ready for a new channel. Also, if the update is safe, will it erase my custom IOS?

*disapointment* But it's strange:

a) No Nintendo's email about this
b) That's small update...very small
c) nothing piracy-bad?
d) Why not 3.4?

Nintendo has often pushed updates that did not move up the version number, that's because they only affect specific channels and nothing major.

I personally think it's the third time I update my wii without the version changing.
Piracy is left untouched. Unless of course there was an exploit in the photo channel that we missed (I doubt it).

I tried the new photochannel (1.0, not 1.1).
I didn't see anything new on the channel except the wii gave me a blacscreen when I chose "wii menu" to quit. it did that only once, nothing to worry.

edit :
the update does update both version of photochannel.
3 files for 1.0 and 7 files for 1.1

maybe 1.0 has nothing new visually.

A new channel was released by Nintendo in Japan today. Since this channel is about photos, too, the photo channel update might have to do with this.
