Weird USB Loader Problem

So I got the homebrew channel and usb loader gx on my wii about 2 months ago, and I was able to run games on them just fine. Recently, though, it started behaving weirdly. I can go on the homebrew channel and load usb loader gx fine, but when I click on a game and try to press start the game just gets stuck on that screen. I hear the button noise and everything but the screen is stuck, and the only way to get out of it is force powering off the wii. What's even weirder is that my brother discovered that if you press start, and then take out the usb drive and put it back in, the game will work for a short amount of time (like on mario kart it let us play 2 races before the screen went black and we had to force power off the wii). Does anyone know what's causing this issue or how I can fix it? I tried searching the internet but I haven't seen anyone else have this problem.
