Well no because if his left joycon is at fault why would a paper clip effect it as the rcm method is used on the right side of the switch ..

You press a single button and wait a couple of minutes, how is this "much work"?

Not gonna argue about how is this "much work" part, as you just let it do its thing, but for me, it took way longer than a couple of minutes... more like an hour or so. So either your switch is turbo-fast, or mine is hella slow,

From what I’ve read the switch will only charge the joycons to 50% in handheld mode but when they are connected they show 100%. If you watch the menu while you put in the ac adaptor it will actually charge. May not be helpful because looks like you’ve tried the adaptor.
