It think the market is already pretty crowded as it is; adding anyone else would be a bit foolish. There are three console producing and two handheld producing companies, and there's even more if you start counting PCs or mobile devices that also play games.

The point is, there are more than enough options out there.

I'd like to keep the triumvirate a triumvirate. If one were to fall another would arise, that's the way I'd prefer it.

I somewhat agree.

Sony's become very arrogant and ignorant. Hell, their commercials are absolute crap in the US. That and their distrust towards consumers is IMHO, just not cool.

Nintendo seems to be keen on rehashing stuff that they believe sells well.

Microsoft hasn't changed. Same old same old.

Yeah, I think it is time for old Sega to return to the Console Market.

We've also got Google as well, no reason they couldn't attempt one.

We have a new handheld being made.

...Remember the nD?

But in all seriousness, as much as I'd love to see SEGA return or even a newcomer step onto the plate, I doubt they'd be able to compete or stay in the market all that long unless they come out with something revolutionary to the industry yet still offering opportunity for game releases seen more commonly on handhelds/consoles.

Don't worry guys, we got some competition next gen!

A google console using android.... Android 8.0 Garlic Cake. Hello Open source console gaming xD

I do often wonder what the hell nintendo has been doing latly with their systems,I havn't been motivated to buy there hardware for years now, owning a ds lite was basically cause its something new at the time and has been my main game device since i've owned it,seriously considering picking up a PS2 to check out all the goodies I missed out on when I bought a gamecube instead...

i honestly would like to see more consoles.
tired of nintendo gimmicks, sony's graphics, and microsofts.....microsofts .......

We really don't need another console. We got the big 3, which will be gone after like 5 or so years and be replaced by newer consoles.

If it's something that will end the Nintendo-Sony-Microsoft bitching, bring it on.

But then it will be the X-Y-Z bitching.

Valve would not work, knowing...HL episode 3

they make great games but jesus god knows when the system will be released after its announcement if Valve decides to make a console (although using Steam to distribute the games would be a great idea).

While Korean gaming is completely dead with excessive pirating (hence the huge popularity of f2p epic grinding MMORPGs or Starcraft), I think Samsung would be one of the closest companies that could possibly make a console and survive (though barely)

3 is a good amount. I say drop Sony and their insecurities in favor of Sega or a newcomer to consoles like Square Enix.

Valve, from a non-sarcastic standpoint, is making a console out of the PC, if you think about it.

Activision has the capital to do it, and some of the hardware R&D from Guitar Hero and such.

Some could consider OnLive a console of sorts. I'd count myself among those.

Forget Consoles!

The next thing should be Virtual reality! Sleeping is for n00bs that don't have a VR system! Imagine, getting home from work, eating dinner, then jumping into Minecraft in VR! Your body would be "sleeping" while you have fun by building stuff and chasing after Endermen with sticks instead of being tortured by nightmares!
