Hey guys, I want to get the Metroid Prime Trilogy for the wii onto my hard drive. However, the file seems to be "too large for destination". I am trying to put it into a folder that has all the games, and then transferring those files onto my hard drive. Can anyone give me a step by step instruction?

Use Wii Backup Manager, it will split your files accordingly, regardless of which filesystem you're using (FAT32 recommended, WBFS acceptable, but outdated, NTFS discouraged). All you need to do is mount the drive in the program, add the game ISO/WBFS image to the list and hit transfer, the manager will do the rest of the magic involved for you.

Hi sorry for reviving the thread, but whenever I use wbfs manager to put a file onto FAT32, it puts several files.
The problem is, that the files get deleted once wbfs manager finishes.
I REALLY need help with this!

  1. Use Wii Backup Manager, WBFS Manager is outdated.
  2. If a file is over 4GB in size, it will be split into parts so that it can fit on the drive (FAT32 has a 4GB filesize limit) hence it puts "several files" onto your drive - it's supposed to do that.

Looks like maybe your drive is corrupt or you don't have enough space. You're using WBFS as the filesystem on your Wii drive, correct? If so, it might be better to use FAT32 instead.

are you sure you are using a good dump? check the file hashes...
heres a website you can check for some hashes http://advanscene.com/

The red part is because your Smash brawl is not dumped correctly.
SSBB contains multiple partitions (2 partition tables and 13 partitions), and you didn't include or didn't dump the additional partitions correctly.

Re-dump the disc, be sure to select "keep all partitions" or "remove update partition".
Do not use the "Keep only game partition" option that USBLoaders or dumpers might have set by default.

If USBLoaders are not dumping this game correctly, you can use CleanRIP which will produce a 1:1 ISO file, then use WiiBackupManager to convert the ISO to wbfs. Again, be sure to select the correct option regarding partitions to keep in the manager's options.

FAT32 and NTFS are equally easy to operate, but NTFS support is experimental at best, crappy and buggy. Go FAT32, get clean dumps and format your drive properly (Primary Partition FAT32 with default cluster size).

I don't plan on using FAT32 because this USB is for backups only.
And on a side note: How can I install channels on my wii?

To install channels in wad file format you will need to use a Wad manager.
it will install to your NAND, but it has limited NAND space.

other method is using EmuNAND to use your SD or USB as if it was your internal Wii NAND, but redirected to external device to get up to 2TB of space instead of 512MB.
