I was just wondering if it's necessary considering the format and console, but with my limited knowledge in mind, I assume WBFS is a way to "clean" the .ISO file of every Wii game--effectively reducing how much space they take up? If so, is it possible we could do the same to 3DS games? Or is there no need?

WBFS files are smaller than their ISO counterparts because they remove junk data that's basically empty space. CIA files have no junk data and are as small as can be already.

Edit: A Wii ISO is always a certain size (about 4.3 GB, double that on a dual-layer disc). The actual game is always smaller than the disc size, so a bunch of that data is junk that can be removed. A WBFS file is the game only with that junk space removed.

Nope. The only 2 files are .3ds and .cia. 3ds is used for flash carts and CIAs for anything else pretty much.

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: But I bet that would be more for a flashcart than a consumer repro board.
