I installed vitaquakeiii from the homebrew browser and offline maps work well but every server I try to connect in multiplayer crashes it at "awaiting gamestate". I would really appreciate some help as I've been searching and found nothing.

Maybe you should try asking in the Henkaku discord server, since the dev who made the Quake 3 port, Rinnegatamante, is usually active on there.
