I just installed Firefox on a Vista system. But downloading doesn't seem to be working. I download a file, and it won't let me open it. Also, it's just not there when I go to the folder, and it won't let me go to the download folder. The options are just greyed out. Anyone help?

Downloading the same files in IE works fine.

tools>options>main>download>"ask me where to save files">ok

when download something
press ok once
then they will not be grayed out anymore

I did that. I choose to save the files to the desktop, the root of my drive... nothing works. The file just isn't there.

Jiggah: Could you please clarify?

This is 3.0rc3, which should be nearly as stable as 3.0 final. I'm not going back to the memory hogging Firefox 2.

Try the nightly builds. Often you'll find bugs fixed well before the are fixed in an offical release.

Plus you get to check out all the cool new features well ahead of everyone else.

Only problem is the occaisional show stopping bug, but in the year I've been running the nightly builds I've only had one of them and it was fixed in the following nights build.

It will automatically update itself to the new version every day.

Give it a spin.
