Easiest workaround will probably be to just get a mirror somewhere and use Broadcom to get the checksum to verify it against.

Both Pop!_OS and Mint are based on Ubuntu LTS which is also derived from Debian.

Not sure how this is relevant to my post, even if they're both derived from Ubuntu, Pop still changed how they handle the bootloader/kernel.

Huh, I thought I have used it like a virtual machine before, my memory seems to be hazy. But yes the way you described, that maybe better use case scenario.

Proxmox is for hosting VMs.

I presume what they meant is that they don't thing it's the best solution for regularly running desktop OSs, but it can do this just that you have to either rely on remote desktop from another system or pass through a GPU.
