Hacking Using WiiBrickBlocker on games from my region

I have a couple of questions on wiikey and wiibrickblocker.

WBB removes the part of the disk containing the update. Could there be any problems using it on disks that are from my Wii's region just to be safe? I update my wii with connect24 anyways.

Another question, on the wiikey config disc you can change the speed between 6x and 3x. When the wii is "unchipped", what speed does it run on? Will the wii last longer using 3x speed? I don't need to turn on region free on the config disc if I only intend to play games from my Wii's region, right?

there is no need to brickblock own region games.

in some cases you may need to if nintendo decide to put a modchip crippling update on the disc, it's a good idea to remove it if you can, these days that wiibrick blocker program is getting less and less usable as less games are not compatible with it.
