I don't have a wireless internet connection for my wii so i tried to follow the offline installation instructions at http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Talk:CIOS_usb2. Upon opening the installer (either beta2 or beta3) it searches for an internet connection, fails, and then exits. without trying to do anything with the downloaded files i put in the specified folder. help anyone? or is there for example a wad installation alternative

Funny, I had to figure this out like an hour ago since the network install kept timing out for me. Go to Wiibrew and get the NUS Downloader if you don't have it already and input 0000000100000024 v1042.

Then put all the files it downloaded in SD:/000000001/0000000024/v1042, then run the Beta3 installer.

gah its still not working for me. it says something about downloading IOS36 metadata and then dies, ideas?

I think it wants you to have an internet connection active even if you're not going to actually use WiFi. Is there a signal that you could use just to get the Wii to cooperate?

Also, are you trying to install the IOS202 or IOS222 version?

hmm thats annoying, nah i dont have any signal in my house, i could do it at a mates eventually. im not sure about the version, whatever is linked to in wiibrew usb2 download section

and other information:

-Wii is softmii'd and has waninkokos cios rev10
-System Menu 4.0 installed by wads, but with a hacked IOS60.

ah thanks a bunch mate, make life alot easier.

Damn, i installed both CIOS Usb 2.0 and Cios rev10
how to uninstall CIOS Usb 2.0 then? is it even needed?

if you already have rev10, you ALREADY HAVE usb2 support

But USB2 cIOS 222 does support USB-Hardware like Logitech-Microphone etc which rev10 (which is used by cIOS 249) doesn't.

Thus having both is a clear benefit since some USB Loaders support starting games with cIOS222 (currently that should be uLoader 1.6 and USB Loader GX iirc)

I had a similar issue, re-installing the old IOS36-64-v1042.wad with wad manager fixed it.
