I get exactly the same issue with Wii! I changed 120gb Kingston SSD to 232gb Toshiba HDD and USB loader fails to initialise…. When i changes IOS from 249 to 58 it initialised Toshiba HDD just fine, but games failed to load with 58…

any way to fix initialisation issue, but keep the ability to launch games? This looks like an IOS issue with 249 (also tried 248) preventing HDD to initialise?

Use Hermes cios (for example,cios222). It can prevent Usb Loaders from getting stuck on startup and support more features than ios58.

Plus, my game drive is a KIOXIA 256gb nvme ssd dividing into two partitions. Just put games on the first partition and it works fine on my Wii.

Hello I had this same issue where Usbloadergx is stuck on reinitializing devices. Took me a day to finally find the solution: Use a different USB, and if you aren't already use WiiBackupManager to setup the wbfs files for you.

I was having this problem and figured it out for me. My problem was the hard drive enclosure. I had one enclosure that worked with whatever hard drive I put in it, but when I would switch the drive to another enclosure it would get stuck on reinitializing. I tried different cables and enclosures and also 3 different wiis. Only USB Loader GX would lock up. I could run nintendont off the hard drives from any enclosure.

So I just bought three enclosures off amazon and two of the three worked. All were cheap at less than ten bucks and all were micro b. I tested them with two different drives of different sizes loaded with gamecube and wii roms.

The ones that WORKED are the SSK 2.5 hdd external enclosure Model HE-V600 and the Orico 2139u3 2.5 inch. The others that werent working were probably orico as they are transparent like the 2139u3 but they are USB C instead of the micro B. The one that I had previously that worked was probably an SSK as it was very similar. The POSUGEAR did NOT work.

I hope this helps anyone having issues. . Now loader works.
