Has anyone ever tried using a USB bridge cable with their Wii? It basically just connects to PCs together for file transfer, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with Wii hooked straight up to my PC. This way I could store all the games on my computer hard drive, instead of my thumb drive that’s currently causing issues.

Thanks!

try plugging 2 USB drive together, nothing will happen because they don't know what to do with each others.
I never tried to plug 2 PC together in USB either, but I don't think one will display the other's content. you probably need tools to act as server/client, no? the wii doesn't have tools to do that.

That’s true of a regular USB cable, but I’m talking about a USB bridge cable.

It has a chip in the middle of the cable, which allows the computers to read and write to each other’s hard drives. Google it for more information. I was wondering if I could simply plug one end into my PC, and the other into my Wii, and have the Wii use my PC as an external hard drive, more or less.

Bridge Cables dont work without software controlling them, this could be drivers or dedicated software. Either way it most likely wont work with the wii right out of the box.

Make sure you don't just try a male-male USB cable. The voltage difference with the power line could cause damage to your PC or console.

Those cables you're probably thinking about are generally considered "EasyTransfer" cables and make both ends look like a USB device. They require support that isn't present in devKitPro or the original Wii dev libraries.
