After installing some legit CIAs with Pasta, can
I upgrade my console and use it as a regular normal console?

By upgrade your console do you mean update the firmware?

If so than you would lose the ability to start your custom toast breads that you installed. The latest firmware won't allow you to toast anything.

Yes, I meant update the firmware. I was thinking because at some point there will be games out that require higher than 9.2 firmware. I don't think anyone has answered the question yet lol. Thanks for the humour though :-)

If you cia files are really legit ones (like preinstalled games ones), you'll be able to keep and run them after a firmware update.

At least, that's how it works with the Gateway so it should be the same (as the Gateway method is to boot to sysnand and install them there).

If you update to latest fw 9.7, The answer is yes, MH4U and SM3DL etc. will definitely work. Some games like Fire Emblem Awakening will still be there but unfortunately you won't see it on your home screen because you'll need Pasta to open the gift again in order to get the icon. On 9.7 you won't be able to that. :/

PS. For MH4U installed CIA etc., you'll even be able to update to 1.1 via eShop and d/l all the DLC.

Update to 9.2 rather, then you can still have homebrew and install CIA's.
