Just a few questions before I go ahead with updating my Wii Key firmware:

1. Before I apply the 1.9g Update, should I update my Wii Key using the 3.0 Config CD?
2. Also does it matter if my Wii Firmware is at 3.0? Should I update past 3.0 when Nintendo releases their firmware updates?
3. Is it possible to just install the 1.9g Update, or would I need to install the 1.9b first?
4. I quite possibly need to pad the 1.9g Update during the burn to a DVD as I would need to fill the entire DVD...how would I go about this?
5. Do I need an SD card in my Wii to complete any Wii Key firmware updates?

Sorry for all the questions guys but I am really new to all of this and would appreciate any assistance I could get!

1. There is no update on the configs discs. There is also no 3.0 config disc. Maybe you meant 1.0 or 1.3?

2. Mine was at 3.0U when I updated. Worked fine. I updated to 3.1 (or whatever the latest is) from the SMG disc.

3. I installed 1.9b first, but I've read that some people have updated straight to 1.9g without any problems.

4. From the 1.9b readme:
QUOTE said:
The update ISO is located in update/wkupdate.1.9b.xx.iso, where
xx responds to a region, ie us, jap, or pal. To burn the image
to a DVD-R, it should first be padded as many DVD recorders will
not burn the image in its original size correctly. This can be
by executing the following command (assuming you are in the
update/ directory): filechop.exe wkupdate.1.9b.xx.iso 1459978240
where xx corresponds to your region. This will create a 1.4GB
image which can be recorded using Image Burner or other software.
The 1.9b update download comes with filechop.exe included.

5. No SD card is needed.

I did mean 1.3 Config Disc sorry. Ah I get it! The config disc is for configuring the WiiKey settings only and nothing else...just realized that.

Anywho, when looking in the zip I got after downloading the 1.9b and 1.9g updates, I don't seem to see a program called filechop, in either update. Now I did read this in the readme as well but I can't seem to locate this exe file.

Thanks for the quick response btw Samutz. I'm hopeless it seems.

The filechop exe is actually in the config.1.3.rar

Wiikey team hasn't done too well providing readme files or instructions in general, but at least we have updates.

Does the hotfix 1.9g iso need to be filechopped?
The one I downloaded today from wiikey.cn didn't need to be filechopped - worked straight up - burned in imgburn.
Updated from 1.0 original Wiikey (had been sitting around for ages until my WiinjaV2 couldn't run SMG)

The 1.3 config does not work until you enable region free.
To do that, get a 1.2 GCOS enabled boot disc, say from here.... ozmodchips.com link, enable region free, then you can use the 1.3 config.
