I am preparing to update my switch. Did this awhile back to get to 10.2, but it seems I need to update to at least 11.0 for some games. I had a few questions if anyone doesnt mind helping me. I plan on using daybreak unless there is a newer method. Currently using hekate/atmosphere

Should I just go to the needed version or should I update to the newest version possible? 11.0 vs 12.1 or 13.0.

Ive been using tinfoil from awhile back. Is there a better program out or is updating tinfoil my best option?

Any other suggestions on what I should do while I am updating as far as useful software?

Thank you for any help.

Daybreak is still good. As far as fw version, it depends; I keep my stock fw at certain version, but run emuNand for games, so I always upgrade my emuNand to the latest; I'm sure there are MANY opinions on this subject. For installers, if Tinfoil works for you, then stick with it. I use Awoo installer, but use Tinfoil occasionally. Suggestions? Just backup everything, then you are free to try things without worries.

Thank you for the info. I saw a few posts about 13 being a bit of trouble, so went with 12.1 on my emuNand. I appreciate the suggestion on Awoo....it is currently the only one that I can get working since updating. Tinfoil 13 opens, but I cannot get it to connect to the nut program to actually transfer anything anymore, and it seems like that a whole issue in itself for another day. Bad luck caused my sd to crash shortly after I finished, but I got it replaced and up and running again.

But knowing Ms it'll just be windows with pre-installed Gamepass streams
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
ROG Ally already has gamepass w actual pc gameplay from the device, so we'll see.

Gamepass, Steam, Epic all on 1 handheld would be a dream.
  • K3Nv3 @ K3Nv3:
    The SteamDeck?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Steamdeck weak performance anymore, and it doesn't officially support gamepass, have to do workaround to get it.

It works okay any high performance portable will be $600+

Latest Switch 2 leak says it will have a LCD, not OLED, run most games 40fps max, and only be 1.5 tflops handheld, 3 tflops docked. That's less than the steamdeck at 1.71 handheld, 3.1 docked.

  • console @ console:
Switch 2 LCD is about like TN type compare to old Nintendo Switch LCD before. Also games running on 40 FPS look not good for us and people. 60 FPS are best for normal everyday gaming. That's weird. I think should not buy Switch 2 because it like Switch 1.5 something like that. Little improve but not major improve. I think going to skip it.

Yea that's just rumored but not sounding that impressive for a next gen upgrade. Of course Nintendo is very good at optimization of their games to play well, but for a $400+ 2025 console I expected a little better. Even a $299 2020 Xbox Series S has 4 tflops.

I thought it was supposed to be on par with an xbox 1 in power, why is it running most things at 40fps lol
  • Anrei @ Anrei:
in terms of power I thought it was a 2.0 compared to the switch man 40fps sounds whack is there poor optimisation or something?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Just rumors/ leaks. We will find out in a few weeks. But yea prob way underpowered to save battery, for longer playtimes, like Switch 1 is.
