Currently on firmware 5.50 which doesn't allow me to update games the official way without updating the system.
Is there any way to just update games I have physically on disc without updating to the latest firmware?
I.E. Is there any tool that allows me to install update pkg's on 5.50 from a USB stick?
I'm hoping to stay on 5.50. Will I have to wait for a kernel exploit for 5.50 in order to do this?

The 5.5x exploit works for 5.55 so you can update to 5.55, just stay away from 6.00. Also mod please move the thread, it is not a tutorial.

Yes, staying on up to 5.55 because 5.50 and 5.55 are fully exploitable in private. You will have to wait for a kernel exploit for up to 5.55 in order to do this. Don't ask when. :)

try to update a game while blocking system updates.
How do you mean? I've set automatic software updates to off. If I need to sign in to PSN to use network features and I have to update the system software in order to connect to PSN I can't do anything.

game updates, like with the ps3, are not connected to psn. you could be banned and still download them. try blocking system update with my ps4 tutorial (pinky's ps4 tutorials). that should block them. that's how I was doing it.

You sure? On PS3 though you aren't told you have to connect to PSN in order to update games or prompted to update the system either.
I'll check the tutorials you mentioned.

should be able to. the main reason I went completely offline with the ps4 was to avoid downloading game updates for games that required higher firmware. I know street fighter 5 did this.

I really don't think thats possible because unlike the PS3 the PS4 updates are behind the PSN login so you can't just download them like that but I haven't tried the system update block and then download approach so it will be interesting to see what OP makes of it.

You can manually update PS4 system firmware via usb.

actually, I was able to do this. that's the reason why I decided to go entirely offline. psn access itself was blocked using a series of url's, so system updates would not even download. I couldn't find a way to block game updates; system updates on the other hand... I was never blocked out of game updates.
