Misc Unlink NNID before selling N3DS?

From what I've read, it seems that even if I was to do a format of both sysnand & emunand before selling my N3DS... that I still cannot use the same NNID on another 3DS if I purchase one down the road. It says to use System Transfer - but what if a person has already sold it by the time they purchase another one?

Is that an accurate statement? I mean, will I need to call Nintendo to be able to relink my NNID on a different 3DS - or will I be fine with the same NNID as long as I formatted before selling?

You have to call Nintendo or use System Transfer. The best would be the latter, because calling Nintendo doesn't transfer everything.

What isn't transferred? I never bought anything on the 3DS using this NNID, but have on the Wii U.

Then calling Nintendo is enough.
